Dr. Lori Maida, Co-Director
Professor of Sociology

Dr. Lori MaidaDr. Lori Maida teaches sociology courses in traditional, honors and distance learning programs. She enjoys challenging students academically. Dr. Maida remains a teacher a heart and receives the greatest satisfaction from guiding, mentoring, and helping students achieve academically and socially. She welcomes the opportunity to learn from and to work with international and American students in the Kathryn W. Davis Global Community Scholars Program. Dr. Maida is a recipient of the 2000 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching, the 2012 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Service, the 2007 Westchester Community College Foundation Teaching Excellence Award and the 2010 Westchester Community College Foundation Service Excellence Award. Dr. Maida serves on a variety of campus committees which help to provide equity for all campus constituencies and she continually seeks connections and collaborations between the college and local, national, and international agencies and organizations.

Kent Trickel, Co-Director
Associate Professor of Modern Languages

Professor Kent TrickelKent Trickel coordinates and teaches academic English as a Second Language writing courses, a bridge program for nonnative English speakers preparing to take college credit courses, and an introduction to Linguistics course. In 2008, Kent’s outstanding work was recognized when he received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He serves as chief editor/advisor for International Voices, an award-winning annual publication featuring the work of Westchester Community College students from around the globe. He has a particular interest in educational technology, including online learning, and serves as a mentor to faculty teaching online at the college. He also serves on several campuswide committees involving technology and online learning.
